Endangered Wildlife Special Tour

You can chose between the two highly successful conservation centers committed to preserving our wildlife, and experience a behind the scenes look at the extreme dedication and skill of our animal conservationists. It’s truly inspiring. We can visit Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre. Moholoholo is the largest rehabilitation centre in South Africa, and learn about techniques employed on injured, poisoned and abandoned animals and birds of prey. The Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC) is a unique project which conducts essential research on endangered species and provides the opportunity to view the animals in their natural surroundings. (HESC) has established itself as one of the leading private research and breeding facilities for endangered species in the country.  The centre developed from a cheetah breeding centre. Guided tours are conducted hourly and start with a video presentation where fascinating background information on these beautiful animals, the research and the current breeding project is presented in the auditorium. Visitors are then guided through the research and breeding centre by experienced guides -more than 60 cheetahs including the extremely beautiful King Cheetah can be viewed. An introduction to the world of the 'painted wolf' or Cape Hunting Dog, a visit to the 'vulture restaurant' and other rare animals concludes the tour.

Elephant Interaction

The opportunity to meet and interact with African elephant is a life-changing experience. After a brief introduction to elephant life, some members of the herd will be brought forward for you to meet. Always accompanied by their handlers, the elephants are relaxed and there is the opportunity to get extremely close to them. You can feed them and touch them and watch their herd dynamics, as the younger elephants play under the watchful eye of the adults. There’s plenty of opportunity for photographs during the half-hour interaction time, and handlers will provide information on individual elephants and fascinating herd behaviour. Culture and Village tour

Visit Shangaan village an interactive tour led by a trained guide through the forest to a living village where the guests meet a Shangana families and experience their customs and traditions. Visit most of the schools in the villages. Have the opportunity to visit the mystical kraal of the Sangoma (traditional healer) to learn about traditional medicine.  Visit the Chief's Kraal Amashangaan tribal or Mnisi tribal. The Tsakani Silk Farm is situated in the heart of the Amashangaan tribal land of Mpumalanga and has close ties with the local community. A team of skilled and dedicated Shangaan women will show visitors the intricate methods of commercial silk farming and hand processing of silk duvets. Purchases of a unique range of African bilk products can be made from the showroom. And not to be miss on Sunday the muchongolo dance.
